Distribution Details
Donation - Non-saleable objects are donated to benefit charitable organizations whenever possible. Written documentation from the charity indicating the value of the donation will be provided for tax deduction purposes. Objects that are not viable for charitable donation will be recycled if applicable.
Auction - As we work hand in hand with a variety of auction or appraisal companies we have found that far too often at the time of clear out the process can be done by the inexperienced, and things of value are inadvertently tossed. Our staff is familiar with items of value and understands proper handling of these items prior to their review by certified appraisers.
Direct Sale - As a Survival Essentials’ client, as we work with you to clear out your home we offer and option to sell some of your furnishings through our web site. This service is included in our “clear out package.” In some situations we suggest local consignment shops for these items.
Through phone calls, e-mail, fax, and photo slideshows we keep in touch regularly with the appropriate parties throughout the process and also coordinate or handle any home improvements necessary in order to expedite the home sale.

The Sorting Process
Survival Essentials will relieve your stress by helping to carefully evaluate the accumulated items in the home. Many homes we work in are filled with items both of value and those that may be donated.
We sort through everything in every drawer, closet, cabinet and cupboard (and clean as we go) to locate personal items, photos, collections, etc. for the family, beneficiaries and heirs, including important documents. Our process can be very time consuming but we make sure that nothing is missed (or has been hidden in a place that someone else may overlook.)
Once the house sells, we continue with the complete clear out and prepare it for the final buyer’s walk through. This includes arranging shipping or moving of items to family members and other appropriate disposition (auction, direct sale, donation.)

- Our first step in the process is to meet with the family or executor. The legal process requires that before any clear out is done that the estate value is established and we can suggest appraisal sources. Often we will pull out everything for display so that the appraisal can be easily completed.
- After that is completed the Survival Essentials team continue to sort through the entire home (See "The Sorting Process" second page) and divide the items in a manner for easy viewing/accessibility and pack items for storage and/or shipments to absentee owners’ heirs with careful review of items that may be of personal importance (often of emotional or monetary value.)
- If the home is to be sold, through this process, we de-clutter and stage it to provide a welcome to a buyer.
- Once the house is sold we come in to handle the final clear out and the appropriate method of furnishing liquidation.
